I want to discuss about one important method I am using in my estimation work. I use zip code based pricing to improve accuracy for opening costs like doors, windows, frames, hardware, and installation. Because material and labor cost can change depending on location, this method helps me adjust estimate according to project area. In my workflow, I prepare professional opening takeoffs by reviewing drawings and schedules carefully. I count all openings and include details like size, type, and specifications. Then I apply zip code based pricing to get more realistic cost for that specific region. This approach helps reduce errors and makes bid more competitive and reliable. But sometimes it is challenging to find correct regional data or update pricing regularly. I would like to know if others are also using this method, and what tools or sources you prefer for accurate location-based pricing.
